A total of 45 concerts will benefit from the Rock'N Malta fund during the year 2025, Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici announced on Friday.
The Ministry stated that this fund, administered by Festivals Malta, incentivizes organizers, promoters, artists, and local bands to invest in rock music by offering financial aid, logistical guidance, marketing support, and more.
This year, the fund has reached a record investment of €1 million, aiming to support a greater number of artists. Minister Bonnici highlighted that Rock'N Malta continues to grow in popularity, with Festivals Malta receiving a record number of submissions. The increase in funding allows for 45 projects involving around 700 local and international artists. He emphasized that this investment will create more opportunities for emerging talent, strengthen collaborations among artists, and further enhance interest in live music, ultimately enriching Malta’s cultural scene.
Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra emphasized the importance of the fund in fostering the development of the local rock music industry. "Through Rock'N Malta, Festivals Malta is continuously investing in rock music concerts and its subgenres. This initiative not only ensures that Maltese audiences enjoy high-quality concerts but also attracts international visitors to Malta for these events. The strong interest in the fund this year is encouraging, and we look forward to seeing these concerts come to life in the coming months."
Festivals Malta CEO Frans Agius echoed these sentiments, adding that Rock'N Malta is becoming a significant part of the Festivals Malta portfolio. "With this fund, the Festivals Malta team can provide assistance in logistics, marketing, and various other areas, ensuring that the events held in our country continue to reach higher standards."
The Ministry confirmed that the concerts benefiting from the Rock'N Malta fund will be staged between February and December 2025.
